The crown is stiffened with potatoflower, take a tablespoon of potatoflower with 2 cups of water, bring to a simmer and let it simmer for a few minutes. Add more water if you want it less thick. You can then apply it with eiter your fingers or a painting brush, don't burn your fingers though. Then let it dry, I found out that if you let it dry on paper it turns out better than if you let it dry on a cloth.
I know you can stiffen projects with sugare as well but I have not tried that yet. Does anyone else have more tipps on how to stiffen your tatting?

Hi Omon, I do quite a lot of stiffening for my bridal tatting (check out my blog). I find the best product for tiaras is undiluted PVA craft glue. You can wipe off the excess with a damp cloth but it still remains very stiff and it dries clear.

I'd be concerned about bugs getting to that lovely crown that you made with the potato starch in years to come...although it is good to know that recipe, just in case I need it. I love learning things like that. Thank you.

Hallo lovely ladies! I tried a swedish craftglue because I had it at home and it worked fairly well. The potato flower works but not to well if you want your tatting realy hard. As I mentioned you can use sugar as well but I have not tried that yet. So far it works best with the glue. OmonSan
